The Civic Museum of Natural History
A place that bears witness to the natural environment of the province of Sondrio, displaying its most significant finds in its rooms and preserving the rest in storage, available by request to scholars. The Civic Museum of Natural History of Morbegno was founded in 1974 by the will of the Municipality, after the local enthusiast Giacomo Perego donated 500 samples of minerals from his collection.
Since 1983, the museum has been housed in the 18th century Palazzo Gualteroni, in the historic centre of the town. The exhibition itinerary is displayed on two floors with the Earth Science and Fauna sections. The large dioramas dedicated to the natural environments of the province are particularly impressive. The Museum also strives to promote naturalistic knowledge through multiple activities.
